Pentru cei ce nu au bani de un calculator nou, postez metoda prin care mi-am facut o modificare la un procesor Xeon Quad core (12MB cache) pentru a putea fi montat int-un motherboard LGA 775 (Core2Duo). Procesoarele Xeon sunt mult mai ieftine pe ebay decat echivalantale lor Core2Quad.
Metoda implica lipirea unui "sticker" pe spatele procesorului (care va inversa doi pini) si taierea celor 2 indentari de plastic din soclul 775, pentru a putea instala noul procesor 771 (care are notch-urile rotite la 90 grade).

Uneori un update de microcode este necesar, alteori merge si fara.
