Eu am descoperit câteva formaţii cel puţin interesante datorită unor astfel de thread-uri de pe alte forumuri, şi mă gândesc că nu strică s-avem şi aici aşa ceva.

Pelican ~ The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw (2005), post-metal, doom metal (neapărat să specificaţi genul, să ştim şi noi la ce ne-aşteptăm :D). O formaţie exclusiv instrumentală, care face o treabă surprinzător de bună. Întregul album poate fi ascultat aici.

rock gotic - simfonic. Sub Vovin dupa parerea mea, dar totusi foarte bune.

Korpiklaani, folk metal, ceva gen Fintroll dar cu ceva mai multe influenţe folk şi un pic mai paşnici :).

In ultimii ani am ascultat IRIS -toata discografia.
In schimb va recomand EDAIN.Este o formatie ungureasca care canta muzica irlandeza. Am avut onoarea sa vad un concert live anul trecut, dar din pacate nu aveau CD-uri de vanzare si acum ma chinui sa le descarc de pe hub-uri unguresti.Dar se pare ca nici ungurii nu au auzit de ei :D

Azi am intrat in posesia noului album Zdob si Zdub-Ethnomecanica. Foarte bun albumul. Desi este un best of piesele sunt remixate.Pe CD se afla si clipul piesei "Miorita".

Lateralus (2001) e peste. Mai mult decat prog-rock, ci muzica care curge... (da, am facut o cacofonie :D). Am prins un live in Timisoara cu o trupa de ceva.. psychedelic jazz: E.S.T.; daca aveti de unde pune mana pe albume sau orice, merita fiecare cent.

Abia acum am ascultat ultimul album de la Phoenix - Baba Novak. E superb! Poate nu e chiar o revelatie folk-rock, cum au fost primele lor albume la vremea lor insa pot zice doar ca "Phoenix e Phoenix" ;)

Isis ~ In the Absence of Truth (2006), post-metal. Ăsta n-are vreo melodie care să iasă în evidenţă, dar, ascultat de la cap la coadă, e excelent.
Bill Hicks ~ Arizona Bay (1997), comedy. :rotfl:

PS: Mie Lateralus nu mi s-a părut mai bun ca Ænima.

Compozitia e mult mai studiata, sunetul da aparenta aia de perceptie tridimensionala. Si suna mult mai armonios. Astea, plus ceva trairi subiective, fac din Lateralus un album care pentru mine e cu siguranta celk putin de top 5.

Daca tot am ajuns prog, recomand Pain of Salvation - Be. O experienta irepetabila, poate si datorita miniorchestrei si a catorva instrumente nespecifice rock-ului. Mai mult feeling e in varianta live (concert) decat in release-ul de studio.

Battle of Mice ~ A Day of Nights (2006), post metal. Julie Christmas are o voce interesantă, in a paranoic kind of way.
Mastodon ~ Blood Mountain (2006), progressive metal. Chestia asta a fost votată albumul anului 2006 de mai multe reviste de specialitate. A trebuit să-l ascult de câteva ori pentru a-mi da seama de ce. :wacko:

După cum se vede, în ultimul timp m-am dat pe progresiv/doom/sludge/experimental. Pentru doritorii de astfel de senzaţii tari (a se citi muzică mai greu de înţeles), căutaţi pe la Neurot, Hydra Head sau Ipecac Recordings.

My Bloody Valentine ~ Loveless (eu nu-mi pun baza în AMG, dar...să nu ziceţi că nu v-am dat review), 1991, shoegazing. 3/5 pentru...atmosferă, nu ştiu...e un album ciudat.

L-am uitat pe ăsta...
Radiohead ~ OK Computer, 1997, alternative rock. A fost comparat, se pare, cu The Dark Side of the Moon (:pray:) by You-Know-Who. 4/5
